#BHMW23 Virtual Art Showcase
Black Maternal Health Week (BMHW) is a week of awareness, activism, and community-building aimed at amplifying the voices of Black Mamas, and centering the values and traditions of the reproductive and birth justice movements. A campaign that Black Mamas Matter Alliance (BMMA) holds annually, BMHW is in April (11th-17th) during National Minority Health Month. This year's #BMHW23 theme is “Our Bodies Belong to Us: Restoring Black Autonomy and Joy,” which speaks to our strength, power and resilience, and our unassailable right to live freely, safely, and joyfully.
BMMA has designated Monday, April 17th as "a showcase for our right to experience joy, pleasure, and wellness."
Send us photos of art you've made showing your joy as a Black Mama (or the Black Mama in your life!). We will share on our socials with the hashtags #ACalltoJoy & #BMHW23. FB & IG: @TulsaBirthEquity
